About Us

Immanuel means ‘God is with us’
God is with us here at Immanuel
and we encourage everyone
to think and talk about God

Christians believe that there is one God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit

God, the Father of all people, who created the World, is with us
- Christians encourage everyone to find and use the gifts which God has given them because he loves and values us all.
- So at Immanuel we treat everyone with equal respect,
whatever their faith, origin or ability.

God the Son, Jesus Christ, is with us
- Christians think about how Jesus gave his life for us on the Cross
and how this gives us hope.
- So in our community we are guided
by what the Bible tells us of Christ’s life-style and teaching

God the Spirit of Truth is with us
- Christians hope that all people will recognize how much they need and
depend upon the never failing love of God
- So in our school we encourage everyone to become
what we believe God created them to be.

In our life at school we:
- pray together
- teach and talk about God
- try to meet each other’s needs
- value our opportunity to learn more about God’s world
- and challenge dishonesty, injustice and violence

The School Ethos

An education based on Christian values
The Headteacher and Governors are committed to maintaining a successful Church of England school for pupils of all abilities from a range of communities. The school has a distinctively Christian ethos based on the desire to serve God in everything we do for ourselves, for each other and for the wider community. The school’s ethos statement is enclosed in this prospectus.

The school aims to provide an education of real breadth through the subjects which are taught, the development of our extra curricular activities and the way we live together. We firmly believe that such an ethos, informed by Christian values in all we do, affords the best possible environment for pupils to grow intellectually, spiritually, morally and socially. We aim to see pupils developing enquiring minds, working with a sense of purpose towards future goals, as well as living their lives to the full.

We aim to enhance the learning of all pupils by looking for educational opportunities beyond our own environment. We strive to bring into the school additional expertise from business and the worlds of work and leisure. Pupils are encouraged to participate in a range of activities including regular trips and visits, sports, music and drama events. Finally, all parents, friends and members of the local community are invited to play a part in the development of the school meeting together for enjoyment, the discussion of raising attainment strategies and for fund raising.

Worship and Religious Education
Pupils participate in a daily act of worship. These are either year or form assemblies. In addition there are regular services, some of which are Holy Communion, to which parents are welcome.

Although the school is associated with the Church of England, this is not to the exclusion of others. We find it of great value to be able to call upon ministers and members from local Anglican churches and also other denominations across North Bradford. They provide an essential element in the school’s spiritual life through participation in assemblies and other activities.

The school has a Chaplain who is ordained in the Church of England. One of his responsibilities is the development of links between the school, local churches and the wider Christian community. He is also available to provide support and counselling to all members of the Immanuel school community.

While the Christian influence informs all aspects of teaching and learning, considerable importance is attached to the teaching of Religious Education. The school follows the agreed Religious Education Syllabus of the Bradford Diocesan Board of Education, which is available for parents to see on request.

We would like to assure parents of the educational importance of both the school’s Religious Education programme and each act of collective worship. Parents with any concerns over these two aspects of church school life will be invited to discuss them in the first instance with the Headteacher. It is expected that all children will attend Religious Education and collective worship, since we trust that those choosing a place for their daughters and sons at Immanuel will be in sympathy with its Christian ethos.
